
SFA Cross Country Looks to Defend SLC Titles

HUNTSVILLE, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men and women's cross country teams will be in Huntsville, Texas Monday morning to compete for the Southland Conference Cross Country Championships. The women's race will begin at 9:30 a.m., while the men are set to get under way at 10:30 a.m. The meet will take place at the Raven Nest Golf Club.
A Look Back at the Lumberjacks... The SFA Lumberjacks won their second consecutive SLC crown at the 2002 conference meet. The Lumberjacks were led by Nathan Flores, who was named SLC Male Athlete of the Year for winning the race. Flores was one of four Lumberjacks to earn All-Southland Conference honors. SFA returns three of the four All-SLC athletes for Monday's race.
A Look Back at the Ladyjacks... The Ladyjacks were led by 2002 SLC Female Athlete of the Year Ana Rodriguez. She won the SLC individual title with her time of 19:18.70. Rodriguez was one of two Ladyjacks to earn All-Southland Conference honors. The Ladyjacks return both all-conference runners from last year for Monday's championship meet.
Up Next... The SFA men's and women's cross country teams will be in Waco, Texas, Saturday November 15th for the NCAA South Central Regional.
