BEAUMONT, Texas - Junior Brittany Burton recorded a match-high 13 kills and the Ladyjacks held Lamar to a .107 attack percentage as SFA defeated the Cardinals, 3-0 (30-28, 30-23, 30-21), Saturday night. The Ladyjacks improved to 13-12 on the season and 9-5 in Southland Conference play.
The first game was a close battle that SFA held on and won, 30-28. Burton led the way with 13 kills and three blocks. The victory seemed to deflate Lamar as the Ladyjacks went into halftime up, 2-0, beating Lamar, 30-23, in game two. SFA held the momentum in game three as freshman Laura Cramer, sophomores Amelia Mayeaux and Lauren Stevens and junior Deborah Kirkham each added eight kills.
The Ladyjacks return to action Friday when they travel to Thibodaux, La., to face the Lady Colonels. The match will begin at 7 p.m.
