LAKE CHARLES, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack volleyball team had its win streak snapped at six matches Friday night by McNeese State. The Cowgirls defeated SFA, 3-0 (33-31, 30-24, 30-25). The Ladyjacks fall to 12-12 on the season and 8-5 in Southland Conference play.
The Ladyjacks dropped a close battle in game one as McNeese State pulled out the 33-31 decision. The Ladyjacks were led by junior Brittany Burton's 12 kills (.381 attack percentage). The Cowgirls went into the intermission leading 2-0 behind Nicole James' 11 kills and match-high 18 digs. McNeese State came out of the intermission and held the momentum recording a 30-25 victory in game three for the match.
The Ladyjacks struggled offensively hitting only .128 as a team and recording 10 service errors.
Sophomore Amelia Mayeaux recorded nine kills for SFA and four blocks while freshman Stephanie Figgers led the team with 10 digs.
SFA will look to get back on the winning track Saturday when they travel to Beaumont, Texas, to take on Lamar. The match against the Lady Cardinals is slated to begin at 7 p.m., from the Montagne Center.
