The Hunt in October The Ladyjacks are coming off a 3-3 tie against league-leading Southeastern Louisiana, but despite the tie SFA remains in the hunt for the league crown. With three games remaining, SFA is only one point behind the league-leading Lady Lions who sport a 7-0-2 conference record.
Brick Wall Sophomore goalkeeper Natascia Michalezki has lived up to her preseason All-Southland Conference billing. Michalezki has tallied a school-record 11 wins as a sophomore and posted a 1.49 goals against average. She has also posted five shutouts this season, which is only one shy of her mark from a year ago. She has recorded 121 saves, which is second in SFA history only to the 154 she posted as a freshman. She is also second in school history with 275 career saves.
The Grand Cannon Sophomore Kendra Cannon is putting up similar numbers this season that helped her earn SLC Freshman of the Year honors in 2001. Cannon leads the team in points (26) and goals (11) and is second in assists (four). All three marks are listed third on the SFA single-season top-10 charts. Cannon is currently the schools all-time leader in points (58) and goals (25) and is second all-time in assists (eight).
Dishing It Out Junior Christie Mestayer is the Ladyjacks all-time leader in assists with 10 but sophomore Sara Hernandez is having a record-setting season distributing the ball. Hernandez currently leads the team with six assists. The six assists is a new SFA single-season record and currently places her seventh all-time.
