NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack volleyball team hit .386 to defeat Louisiana-Monroe, 3-0 (30-14, 30-11, 30-15), Saturday afternoon. The Ladyjacks are now 12-11 (.522) overall and 8-4 (.667) in Southland Conference play.
The Ladyjacks rolled to an easy game one victory as they hit .471 as a team. Junior Deborah Kirkham recorded four kills in the first game (.571 attack percentage) to spark the Ladyjacks run in game one. She finished the match with eight kills (.467 attack percentage). The Ladyjacks continued to roll in game two as they posted a 30-11 victory over the Lady Indians. Sophomore Lauren Stevens recorded 10 blocks. The Ladyjacks went into the intermission up, 2-0.
The Lady Indians came out of the break and took an early lead in game three but it didn't last long as junior Brittany Burton struck for a match-high 11 kills and eight blocks. SFA won game three with a decisive 30-15 decision.
Sophomore Amelia Mayeaux added nine kills (.500 attack percentage), four digs and two blocks. Freshman Laura Cramer carded six kills (.444 attack percentage) and four blocks.
With the victory, the Ladyjacks also extended their win streak to six matches, which is its' longest in two years.
The Ladyjacks return to action Friday when they travel to Lake Charles, La., to face McNeese State. The match against the Cowgirls is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
