NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's cross country teams will be looking to continue their strong performance from the ULM Dual meet as they head to Huntsville, Texas, Friday for the SHSU Invite. The SHSU Invite is a nine-team field on the women's side and an eight-team race for the men. The teams include Houston, Rice (women's team only), Sam Houston State, Texas A&M, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas-Arlington and Texas Christian. The women's race will get underway at 6 p.m. and the men's is slated to begin at 6:30 p.m.
SFA is looking to maintain the momentum from its dominating performance in the season-opener at Louisiana-Monroe. The Lumberjacks beat Mississippi, 19-36, and knocked off host ULM, 20-36. All five Lumberjack runners finished among the top 10, including Amlesom Teklai (Alexandria, Va.) who finished second overall (21:20).
The Ladyjacks finished in similar fashion in Monroe, with all five SFA runners among the field's top 10. SFA was paced by junior Ana Rodriguez (Dallas, Texas) who finished second overall with a time of 11:37.
The SFA cross country teams will be back in action Saturday Oct. 5, when they travel to Stillwater, Okla., to compete in the Cowboy Jamboree.
