
SFA Wraps Up Competition at Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Texas A&M Invitational Saturday at College Station, Texas, marking the halfway point of the outdoor season.
Senior J.W. Potter (Big Sandy, Texas) led the Lumberjacks with his first-place finish in the 800 meters. Potter crossed the line with a time of 1:51.85. Freshman Andre Ford (DeKalb, Texas) recorded two top 10 finishes at the meet. Ford was 10th in the 100-meter dash with his time of 10.75, and he was third in the long jump with his mark of 7.29 meters.
For the Ladyjacks, sophomore Ana Rodriguez (Dallas, Texas) earned a fourth-place finish with her time of 4:51.92 in the 1,500-meter run. Freshman Jessica Partin (Priddy, Texas) finished fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with her time of 12:31.37. Senior Misty Ballard-Swan (Carlsbad, Calif.) was third in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.75 meters.
The SFA track and field teams return to action Saturday when they send a split squad to the Baylor Invitational in Waco, Texas and to the TCU Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas.
