NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin men and women's track and field teams will be in Waco, Texas, Saturday to compete in the Baylor/Dr. Pepper Relays. The meet will consist of a nine-team field including Angelo State, meet-host Baylor, North Texas, Northwood, Sam Houston State, SMU, Southwest Texas, and Texas A&M. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., with the javelin, hammer throw and the triple jump. The track events are slated to get underway at 12:30 p.m., with the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase. SFA will be traveling 40 athletes to Waco for the competition.
The Ladyjacks are coming off a solid outing at College State, Texas, in the Texas A&M Multis/Relays where senior Destine Rawls (Houston, Texas) set a new school record in the shot put with her toss of 50-1.75, which was good enough for a fourth-place finish.
SFA will continue the 2002 outdoor season Friday March 29 in Houston, Texas, at the Rice Invitational. The invitational is a two-day event that will run through Saturday March 30.
