HOUSTON, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's track and field teams continued the 2002 fall season Saturday in the Houston All-Comers meet in Houston, Texas. Junior Jessica Claiborne (Spring, Texas) sparked a solid performance by the Ladyjacks while sophomore Nate Flores (Kingwood, Texas) led the No. 19 (Trackwire.com poll) Lumberjacks' effort.
Claiborne recorded a jump of 19 feet, 1.5 inches in the long jump, which was good enough for a first-place finish. She finished second in the triple jump with her mark of 39-8.75. Both jumps are personal and school records.
On the men's side, Flores paced the Lumberjacks' performance with his time of 8:30.00 in the 3,000 meters. The time set a new personal best for Flores and was only 12-hundredths of a second shy of a school record.
The SFA track and field teams will return to action Saturday at the Houston Indoor Invitational, in Houston, Texas.
