Ladyjacks Knock-Off Texas-Arlington

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack volleyball team handed Texas-Arlington its first Southland Conference loss of the season Friday night, 3-1 (34-32, 30-24, 22-30, 30-26). The Ladyjacks are now 19-10 overall and 12-5 in the Southland Conference.
The Ladyjacks put Texas-Arlington in an early hole, picking up victories in games one and two. The Ladyjacks were led by senior Angie Wood (Houston, Texas), sophomores Joanna Benestante (Houston, Texas) and Brittany Burton (Livingston, Texas) who recorded 17 kills each. Wood also added 10 digs while Benestante added 13 digs.
The Mavericks fought back to win game three, 30-22, behind Amber Pack's 19 kills and 18 digs. Pack was one of five Mavericks to record double-figure kills, but UTA had no answer for the Ladyjack offense that recorded .302 attack percentage.
SFA was also dominant on the defensive end as well recording 27 blocks. Burton and senior Sunni Williams (Houston, Texas) added eight blocks each, while senior Jennifer Wilson (Friendswood, Texas) finished the match with six. Wilson also struck for 14 kills.
The Ladyjacks will host Texas-San Antonio Tuesday night. The match against the Roadrunners will be the Ladyjacks' senior night. It is slated to get underway at 7 p.m.
