'Jacks Cruise To 99-62 Win In Final Exhibition

Six different Lumberjacks ended the night in double figures as SFA cruised to a 99-62 win over Athletes First Tuesday night in the coliseum. The 'Jacks jumped out to a 7-2 lead just three minutes into the contest and the visitors were never any closer the rest of the night.
Sophomore forward Stevin Ozier chalked up a double-double with a 21-point, 10-rebound effort. First team All-SLC preseason selection Percy Green added 14 points and six boards on the night as Danny Kaspar played 10 players at least 13 minutes in the game. Joining Green and Ozier were Rashad Wright, Marcus Clark, Jasen Gast and Taylor Moore, all with 11-points each.
Ozier was 8 of 14 from the floor and 5-7 at the free throw line to go along with the 10 rebounds. Five of Ozier's rebounds were offensive boards. SFA outrebounded Athletes First by a 47-38 margin and recorded 16 offensive boards. The 'Jacks scored 18 second chance points and dominated play inside scoring 50 of their 99 points in the paint.
SFA shot better than 50 percent in each half and ended the game 40-73 (.548) while allowing Athletes First to connect on only 22 of 68 attemmpts from the field (.324). Bruce Jenkins led Athletes First with 18 points while Joe Adkins added 16. Tony Heard also added 10 points for the visitors.
The 'Jacks committed only 11 turnovers in the game while forcing 16. Freshman guard Marcus Clark added four assists against only one turnover to go along with his 11 points.
SFA opens the regular season this Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in Austin against the University of Texas.
