Danny Kaspar and the 2002-03 Lumberjack basketball team play the first of two scheduled exhibition games Thursday night in the coliseum. SFA hosts MBC Nikolaev, a touring team from Ukraine, tonight at 7:00 p.m., admission is free.
The Ukrainian team lost to Sam Houston State Wednesday night, 75-64. Ukraine's leading scorer, Oleksandr Rayevskyy had 21 points on an 8-18 shooting night. Rayevskyy scored 31 points Monday night at UT-El Paso.
The 'Jacks return three starters from last year's 13-15 squad, including First Team All-SLC preseason pick, Percy Green. Green led the team in scoring last year and was named a preseason first team selection in a vote of conference head coaches. Joining Green as returning starters are G Ben Hunt and F Stevin Ozier. Ozier was the SLC's Freshman of the Year last season.
Kaspar has added four recruits and several walk-ons to the team this year and they will see their first action with the 'Jacks tonight at 7:00 p.m.
SFA closes out the exhibition season next Tuesday with its second exhibition of the season with Athletes First. Tip for the Nov. 19 game is also set for 7:00 p.m. and admission is also free for that game. SFA opens the regular season Nov. 23, in Austin, against the University of Texas.
