Monroe, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team finished in a 1-1 tie with Louisiana-Monroe Friday night. The Ladyjacks are now 7-9-3 overall and 4-4-3 in the Southland Conference.
ULM jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Chelsea Shriner scored the game's first goal at the 7:45 mark. But that would be the only goal freshman keeper Natascia Michalezki would allow the whole night as she finished the game with 11 saves in 110 minutes of action.
The Ladyjacks tied the game in the 61st minute of the contest when senior Anna Steed (McKinney, Texas) scored her first goal of the season. But neither team would score in two overtimes and the game ended, 1-1.
"It was a great effort by our ladies," said SFA head coach Nicole Nelson. "Another game that we should have put away. We created a lot of opportunities for ourselves and just didn't finish."
The Ladyjacks return to action Sunday at Northwestern State in the season finale. The game against the Demons is slated for a 2 p.m., start in Natchitoches, La.
