NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team will close out the 2002 home portion of its schedule with Senior Night Friday against Southwest Texas. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., from Homer Bryce Stadium. The Ladyjacks will be honoring their three seniors prior to the match. The Ladyjacks' three senior are Kim Elger (Midland, Texas), Season Settle (Jacksonville, Texas) and Anna Steed (McKinney, Texas).
POW: Freshman goalkeeper Natascia Michalezki (Calgary, Alberta) was named Southland Conference goalkeeper of the week for her performance against Southeastern Louisiana and Nicholls State. Michalezki surrendered only one goal in the two games and guiding the Ladyjacks to a 1-0-1 record. Michalezki recorded a shutout against Nicholls State while surrendering only one goal in the two-overtime game against the Lady Lions. It is the second time this season that Michalezki has received the honor.
Shutting Out the Competition: The Ladyjacks defense has been dominating over the course of the last few games. In the Ladyjacks last five wins, SFA has not surrendered a goal. Looking back over the Ladyjacks last seven games, only four goals and has recorded a 4-2-1 recorded. During that span, SFA has outscored its opponents, 17-4.
Where They Stand: The Ladyjacks are currently in a three-way tie with Southwest Texas and Louisiana-Monroe for third place in the Southland Conference. The league's top four teams advance to the Southland Conference tournament.
Up Next ... The Ladyjacks will be in Lake Charles, La., Tuesday night to take on the McNeese State. The game is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
