NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team (5-7-0 overall, 2-2-0 Southland) will be in Louisiana this weekend to wrap-up a three-game road swing. The Ladyjacks will be in Hammond, La., Friday night to take on Southeastern Louisiana. The game against the Lady lions is slated to get underway at 4:30 p.m. The Ladyjacks will be Thibodaux, La., Sunday for a 1 p.m., showdown against Nicholls State. Southeastern Louisiana enters the contest only a half game back of the Ladyjacks for the fourth and final playoff sport, with a 1-2-0 league record. The Colonels have yet to win a league match.
The Great Wall of Nacogdoches Freshman goalkeeper Natascia Michalezki (Calgary, Alberta) has given the impression to opponents that there is an invisible wall in place in front of the Ladyjacks goal. The rookie goalkeeper is currently ninth in the nation and second in the conference with her 8.50 saves per game.
A Look Back The Ladyjacks split the season series with Southeastern Louisiana last season with each team winning on its home field. The Ladyjacks swept the series with Nicholls State in 2001, beating the Colonels, 6-0, in Nacogdoches, and escaping Thibodaux, La., with a 1-0 victory.
Up Next ... The Ladyjacks return home for their final three home games of the season. SFA will kick off the homestand Friday Oct. 18, against Southeastern Louisiana. The game is slated to get underway at 7 p.m. SFA will follow that up two days later with a 1 p.m., game against Nicholls State. The homestand will conclude Friday Oct. 25, in a 7 p.m., game against defending SLC champion Southwest Texas. All games will played at Homer Bryce Stadium.
