LAKE CHARLES, La. -- The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team lost a three-match winning streak, 3-4, against McNeese State in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
The first goal was scored against SFA by Stefanie Beisal. The second scorer was Ladyjack freshman Christy Mestayer (Houston, Texas) by playing one on one with McNeese goalie Toni Deason. Mestayer was assisted by freshman Heather Trammell (Burleson, Texas). After the first SFA goal, forward Sophia Pantazis (Kingwood, Texas) followed with the second goal. Pantazis finished the match up with an unassisted goal at 62:50. The other scorers for McNeese were Allison Arnold and Helen Kibby.
Along with her goal, Mestayer had four shots, and Pantazis had three shots. Midfielder Kendra Cannon (Kilgore,Texas) had the most shots of the match with five. The Ladyjacks had 19 shots, which was seven more than McNeese. Sophomore Heather Machette (Rio Linda, California) played goalie the entire match and had one save.
SFA will be on the road again on Friday at Louisiana-Monroe as they take on the Lady Indians. The next home match will be Friday Sept. 28th at 6:00 p.m. at Homer Bryce Stadium. Admission is free.
