NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack head basketball coach Danny Kaspar has announced the signing of two student-athletes to national letters of intent to attend Stephen F. Austin, and play basketball next fall for the Lumberjacks. Percy Green, a 6-7 forward from Garden City Community College, and Ben Hunt a 6-1 guard from Australia, have both signed letters of intent to further their education and play basketball next year at SFA.
"I am very excited about the addition of both of these young men to our program. Both will bring a great deal to the program, on and off the floor. Green was an exceptional junior college player that should fit in nicely with the guys we already have on campus, and Ben Hunt is a young man that played for an international team last fall and will bring an added level of maturity to the team. I think both of these signees will add a great deal to the team," said Kaspar.
Green spent the past season at Garden City Community College in garden City, Kansas where he averaged 12.7 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. He also shot just over 52% from the field last season as a sophomore. He played his freshman season at Seminole Junior College in Oklahoma, where he was a teammate of current Lumberjack Edwin Tatum. Green was ranked as one of the top five junior college players in Oklahoma as a freshman. Green played for coach Mark Wilson at Western Heights High School in Oklahoma City as a prep player.
Hunt played an exhibition game against the Lumberjacks last fall as a member of Team Ezybonds. Hunt scored 20 points on a 7 of 15 shooting night against SFA. Hunt currently plays in an Australian amateur league and will enter SFA in September. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Green and Hunt join point guard Tim Simon, forward Taylor Moore, and guard Rashad Wright as signees for the Lumberjacks heading into the 2001 season.
