Track Competes at Bayou Classic

Members of the Stephen F. Austin men's and women's track teams competed this weekend at the Bayou Classic hosted by Rice University in Houston. There were a number of good performances on both squads and several first time winners. Folowing is abrief rundown of SFA finishes in various events.
Blake Gordon claimed the university division women's discus title with a throw of 140-03. Destine Smith, competing unattached finished second in the event.
Jessica Claiborne also won the women's triple jump with a jump of 11.35m. The Ladyjacks went one-two in the event with Jen Schreinerm taking secong with a jump of 11.24m.
Misty Ballard claimed yet another pole vault title, clearing 13-1.50 in winning the event. The Ladyjacks' 4x100 relay team also took second finishing just ahead of UT-San Antonio.
On the men's side, Daniel Longoria fnished sixth in the 100-meters and fourth in the 200-meters for the 'Jacks.
Remone McIver claimed the 800-meter title in the event, turning in a 1:51.75 to take the tape. The 'Jacks went 1-2 as J.W. Potter finished second with a time of 1:51.99. Rhet Hanson finished fourth in the men's 5,000 meter run with a time of 16:03.39.
Adam Keul cleared 18 feet, going 18-01 to take another pole vault title, the NCAA Indoor runner-up cleared a height almost three feet higher than the second place finisher.
DeVaughn Rettig finished second in the men's triple jump, leaping 46-05.25. SFA kicker Ryan Rossner won the discus event with a throw of 157-07, and also placed third in the shot put for the Lumberjack track team with a mark of 47-10.59.
