Stephen F. Austin athletic director Steve McCarty announced today the resignation of Ladyjack soccer head coach Lance Noble. Noble recently completed his second season as the head coach of the soccer program, posting a 10-8-1 overall record, including a 6-6 mark in Southland Conference play.
"Coach Noble informed me that the success that he has enjoyed here at SFA has opened opportunities for him to enhance his coaching career. As a result, Coach Noble has resigned to explore other opportunities and become more involved with the Olympic Development Program. We wish him the best as he continues to develop and expand his coaching career," said McCarty.
In his two seasons at SFA, Noble brought the Ladyjack soccer team back from the depths of a 4-12-2 campaign a year ago to the 10-8-1 record in 2001. SFA also went 6-6 in Southland Conference action in Noble's second year, finishing fourth in the Southland Conference and earning a spot in the post-season tournament. The Ladyjacks entered the tournament as the number four seed and took conference champion Southwest Texas to overtime before eventually falling, 1-0.
During his collegiate coaching career Noble has posted a career record of 118-58-13 in stops at the University of Dallas, St. Mary's and SFA. A former Coach of the Year award winner during his stay at St. Mary's, Noble also serves as a licensing instructor for youth coaches at the state and national level.
A search for a replacement will begin immediately.
