Michael Adams blocked a punt with just over seven minutes remaining that resulted in an SFA safety that gave the 'Jacks the margin of victory over Nicholls State Saturday, before 6,321 fans at Homer Bryce Stadium.
With the 'Jacks up 21-14 in the fourth quarter, Adams got pressure on the Nicholls State punter and blocked his first punt of the season, the third in his career. The resulting safety gave the 'Jacks a 23-14 cushion heading down the stretch.
QB Wes Pate moved into third on the all-time touchdown pass list with his two touchdown throws on the afternoon. For the day, the Arp senior was 19 of 29 with one interception for 233 yards and the two touchdowns. WR Anthony Dingle was on the receiving end of one of the Pate scores and WR Courtnee Garcia caught the other.
The Lumberjack defensive unit held Nicholls State to only 240 yards of total offense, limiting one of the SFL's leading ground attacks to only 129 yards on 44 attempts.
