
'Jacks Wrap Up Exhibition Season With 67-59 Win

The Lumberjack basketball team closed out the 2001 exhibition season Sunday afternoon with a 67-59 win over Team Ezybonds, a touring team from Australia. G Skip Jackson led the 'Jacks with 13-points, going four of eight from the field, including three of four on three-point attempts.
SFA led by only six at the half, but had built as much as an 11-point lead midway through the first period before Team Ezybonds scored 11 straight points to tie the score at 31-31. Skip Jackson hit two big three-pointers within the final minute of the half to give the 'Jacks a six point halftime lead.
Ben Hunt, a junior from Australia that played for Ezybonds last year, added 10 points for SFA, as did freshman Stevin Ozier. Hunt also added three assists to only one turnover in the game. SFA committed only 10 turnovers as a team, while forcing 14 by the Australians. Ezybonds did outrebound the 'Jacks 35-31 in the contest. F Edwin Tatum and F Ransom White led SFA on the glass with six rebounds each. White also scored eight points, while Tatum added seven.
Damien Anderson led all scorers in the game with 20-points. Jamie Holmes added 19 for Ezybonds, which wraps up their American tour against Lamar, later this week.
The Lumberjacks open the regular season next Saturday as they travel to Tempe, Arizona to take on Arizona State in a 12:30 CST tip-off from the Wells Fargo Arena.
