Ladyjacks Beat Nicholls State

Thibodeaux, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team shutout the Nicholls State Lady Colonels, 1-0, Monday afternoon in Thibodeaux, La.
The only goal scored during the match was by freshman Sarah Johnson (Ft. Worth, Texas) and was assisted by freshman Kendra Cannon (Kilgore, Texas) at 25:46.
Senior Elizabeth Evatt (Plano, Texas) played the whole match and had six saves.
Cannon surpassed the record for single-season points (32), goals (14) and game-winning goals (4) this season. She tied the career record for goals and game winning goals. Evatt blew past her minutes-played mark with 1,491:37.
"We are the first soccer team in SFA history to win 10 matches," head coach Lance Noble said. "The girls played well. We have had a successful season. We are a young team that has made a vast improvement from the beginning of the season."
The Ladyjacks return to action Friday in the Southland Conference Tournament. The fourth-seeded Ladyjacks will take on top-seeded Southwest Texas in the first round.
