Ladyjacks Shutout Louisiana-Monroe

Nacogdoches - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team beat Louisiana-Monroe Lady Indians, 4-0, Sunday afternoon in Homer Bryce Stadium.
The first goal was scored at 3:09 by freshman Sarah Johnson (Ft. Worth, Texas) and was assisted by freshman Kendra Cannon (Kilgore, Texas). The second goal scored by the Ladyjacks was by Cannon at 22:09 and was unassisted. The third goal was made by freshman Nicole Richardson (Mansfield, Texas) and was assisted by Cannon. The final goal for SFA came at 63:49 by Cannon and was assisted by Richardson.
SFA took 20 shots against Louisiana-Monroe's five shots. Cannon led the team in shots (5), followed by Johnson and Richardson with three shots.
Cannon's second goal of the match was her 13th goal of the 2001 season. That mark ties her for tops on the SFA single season list.
Senior Elizabeth Evatt (Plano, Texas) played 79:55 and recorded four saves. Freshman Jillian Hazel (New Braunfels, Texas) played the remaining 10:05 and had one save.
"This was a good match for our team," head coach Lance Noble. "Our girls came out and took care of business. Now we need to get our rest and get ready for Nicholls State tomorrow night."
SFA will be in Thibodeaux, La., Monday evening to take on Nicholls State. The match is a make-up from the Nicholls State match that was cancelled earlier this season.
