Ladyjacks Shutout Northwestern State

Nacogdoches - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team ran over rival Northwestern State Lady Demons, 1-0, Friday night at Homer Bryce Stadium.
The first and only goal was scored by freshman Nicole Richardson (Mansfield, Texas) in the second half and was assisted by junior Kim Elger (Midland, Texas). The goal was made off a corner kick.
The Ladyjacks took a total of 25 shots against the Lady Demons' nine. Freshman Kendra Cannon (Kilgore, Texas) led the team with seven shots. Senior Jessica Messner (Plano, Texas), sophomore Sophia Pantazis (Kingwood, Texas) and Richardson each took five shots.
Senior Elizabeth Evatt (Plano, Texas) played the entire match and had two saves and no goals against.
"This was a great win," head coach Lance Noble said. "This was an elimination game, we had to win. We came out and just got the job done. They played well, the team clicked and we put forth a great effort."
The Ladyjacks take on Louisiana-Monroe on Sunday, October 28th at 2:00 p.m. at Homer Bryce Stadium. Admission is free.
