BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) - Ron Austin hit a basket with six seconds left Monday as Lamar defeated Stephen F. Austin 54-52.
Lamar (4-8, 2-3 Southland) closed with a 14-7 run over the final 3:47 of the game.
Joey Ray led Lamar with 22 points. He tied his career high with 22 points and the Cardinals ended a five-game losing streak with the win.
Ron Banks led Stephen F. Austin (5-7, 2-4) with 16 points. Beaumont native Skip Jackson added 15 points for the 'Jacks on a 6 of 13 shooting night.
Lewis Arline nabbed 12 rebounds for Lamar and Emanual Jackson had eight for Stephen F. Austin.
