NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Stephen F. Austin State University hosted the Joe Richardson Invitational cross country meet at the Pineywoods Country Club in Nacogdoches, Texas Monday, September 25. The Women began at 6:00 p.m. while the men began at 6:40 p.m.
Teams competing on the women's side included McNeese State, Louisiana Tech, Sam Houston, University of Louisiana at Monroe, Southwest Texas and Stephen F. Austin. Thirty-eight women finished the 5,000 meter run.
Teams competing for the men were teams from McNeese State, Stephen F. Austin, Southwest Texas, University of Louisiana at Monroe and Louisiana Tech. The men ran an 8,000 meter course with 40 athletes finishing the race.
Both the McNeese State men and women finished the meet as a team in first place. On the women's side Sita Waru, from McNeese State, finished first with a time of 17:39.3. She was followed by her teammate Kim Smith with a time of 18:08.3. Jason Foolkes, also a member of the McNeese State team, finished first on the men's side with a time of 25:53.6. Following Foolkes was Stephen F. Austin's Nathan Flores with 25:59.2.
