
Ladyjack Volleyball Wins Home Opener

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- The Stephen F. Austin State University Ladyjack volleyball team opened conference play at home with a 3-0 (15-3, 15-2, 15-8) win over rival Sam Houston State University. The Ladyjacks are currently 4-3 overall and 1-0 in Southland Conference play.
Junior, middle blocker Kristy Rhodes led her team in kills with 12 kills and 26 total attacks. Freshman, Julie Goodson, a middle blocker from Alvin, Texas had an outstanding night with an attack percentage of .500, the highest on the team. Goodson had seven kills, only one error and 12 total attacks for the match. Goodson also led her team in digs with eight. Junior, setter Marissa Dorcheus made these kills possible by accumulating 31 total assists.
Sophomore, Sunni Williams helped her teammates at the service line by scoring four service aces. Williams was followed by the lone senior, outside hitter Jenny Orndorff with three service aces.
The Ladyjacks will be back in action Friday, September 15, at 7:00 p.m. as they face Southwest Texas State University. On Saturday, September 16, at 7:00 p.m. the team will face Texas-San Antonio. Both matches will be played in William R. Johnson Coliseum.
