Ballard Named Asics Athlete Of The Week

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin State University sophomore, Misty Ballard, has been named the Southland Conference Asics Athlete of the Week.
Ballard, a first year pole vaulter from Carlsbad, New Mexico, earned this honor after clinching two consecutive first place finishes during the 2000 outdoor season. At the Southwest Texas Invitational on March 24, in San Marcos, Ballard vaulted 3.65M (11-11.75). More impressively, Ballard vaulted 3.66M (12-00.00) at the Rice University Bayou City Meet, March 31 - April 3. She competed against teams such as, Rice and Harvard University.
This vault of 3.66M (12-00.00) is a new school record at Stephen F. Austin.
The Ladyjack and Lumberjack track teams will be back in action April 5-8, in Austin as they participate in the Texas Relays.
