She spent the past three seasons as an assistant coach before being promoted to Associate Head Coach in December of 2024. During her time as assistant coach, she also served as the Head Beach Volleyball Coach from October 2023 to December 2024.
Hicks has helped the team to a 79-19 overall record, a 2022 WAC Tournament Championship, a 2023 WAC Regular Season Championship and two NCAA Tournaments, including the program’s first at-large bid in 2023. Here at SFA she has helped mentor 13 All-Conference athletes, one Freshman of the Year, one Player of the Year, one Libero of the Year, and one AVCA All-Region athlete (2022 & 2023).
Prior to joining SFA Volleyball, Hicks spent the 2020 and 2021 seasons as the Director of Volleyball Operations and Technical Coordinator for Auburn University. She was the "master calendar" for the program, where she handled team travel and scheduling as well as camps and finances. She handled the statistical and video work for the program with her expertise in Data Volley in addition to her Director of Operations role. Hicks also had the opportunity to coach for the Southern Region High Performance teams that competed in the High Performance Championships in the summers of 2021 and 2022.
Hicks, a native of Midlothian, Texas, joined the Auburn volleyball staff after serving as a graduate assistant at Southern Methodist University for the 2018 and 2019 seasons. There she earned a Master of Liberal Studies degree with a concentration in Organizational Dynamics within the Simmons School of Education and Human Development.
A four-year libero at Saint Mary's College of California, she finished her career second in program history with a 3.64 digs per set average. During her time at Saint Mary's, Hicks led the Gaels to a runner-up finish at the West Coast Conference Beach Volleyball Championship as a sophomore. She led her indoor squad in digs each of her last three seasons.
Madi and her husband, Jeremy, reside in Nacogdoches.
