Mark Mitchell was named Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning at SFA in August of 2012. He serves as the primary strength coach for men's basketball, baseball, women's tennis, men's and women's golf and throwers for track and field.
Prior to joining the Lumberjacks, Mitchell served as a Strength and Conditioning Assistant Coach at Western Michigan University, supporting the WMU football and men's tennis teams.
Mitchell began his strength coaching career at Eastern Michigan University where he served as an intern on the EMU Sports Performance staff. From there, he went on to be an intern with the football strength and conditioning staff at The Ohio State University.
Mitchell earned his bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan and was a three-year letterman as a defensive back on the Eagles football team. He went on to complete his Master's degree in Sport Performance at Western Michigan University in 2012. He holds certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, and The United States Weight Lifting Association.
