Patrick Harrison enters his first year in 2023-24 as associate head women's basketball coach. He joins the SFA coaching staff after spending last year as an assistant coach for New Mexico State.
Last season with New Mexico State, Harrison helped lead the Aggies to the second round of the WAC Women’s Conference Tournament. The team also earned a spot at the Women's College Basketball Invitational where they fell to California Baptist University in the championship game.
Harrison spent four years (2018-22) on the University of Missouri-Kansas City coaching staff. During his tenure at Kansas City, he helped lead the Roos to an overall 70-46 record, including a pair of 20-plus win seasons in 2019-20 and 2021-22. In addition to a WNIT appearance in 2021-22, UMKC was also crowned WAC Regular Season Champions in 2019-20 after finishing 13-3 in conference play.
In 2017-18 he helped guide Iowa Western to an outstanding 25-5 overall record. The Reivers were ranked 15th in the national standings and captured the ICCAC regular season championship. Prior to the 2017-18 season, Harrison made stops as an assistant coach at Johnson County Community College (2016-17), North Dakota State (2014-16), and Hastings College (2013-14) along with serving as a graduate assistant at Wichita State (2011-13).
At North Dakota State he helped guide the Bison to their highest win total and their best finish in the Summit League standings in three seasons. Additionally, three players were named All-Summit League to mark the most Bison players to earn honors since NDSU joined the league in 2007. Two of the players that Harrison worked with have gone on to successful overseas careers.
In 2016-17 with Johnson County Community College (Kan.), the team finished 33-3, ranked third in the final regular season national poll, won conference and region titles, and finished national runner up at the 2017 NJCAA DII Tournament.
He spent his early years in coaching including as a graduate assistant on Adams-Birch's Wichita State staff in 2011. He was part of the staff at Friends University and Pratt Community College prior to serving on the Shockers' staff for two seasons. He then made stops as an assistant at Hastings College, North Dakota State, Johnson County Community College.
Overall, Harrison has been a college basketball coach for 17 years. He brings an impressive line of recruiting excellence over his 17-year career, including bringing in eight NJCAA All-Americans, eight top-300 players and five First Team All-WAC/All-Summit League players. Harrison has created global recruiting connections in Spain, Germany, and Australia.
Harrison received his Associates degree from Hesston College (2007) while earning his Bachelor’s degree from Friends University in Psychology Human Services (2009) and his masters from Wichita State University in Sports Management (2013). Harrison is married to his wife, Tiffany.
