Jacks Finish Regular Season Strong as SLC Championships Loom

Both 10K records fall in California, SFA fares well in College Station
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – A bow was firmly placed by Stephen F. Austin on the outdoor track and field regular season this weekend.
A pair of Jacks took advantage of the opportunity to compete against quality west coast competition at the Payton Jordan Invitational hosted by Stanford. As a result, both 10K program records fell. Paul Kiprotich finished second overall with a new program-best time of 28:30.69, while Valentine Jemutai also clocked in at second place with a finish in 33:26.94.
In College Station, Evaline Chepkoech set a meet record in the women's 1500m at 4:17.64. Mercy Kipchumba won the women's 5000m nearly dropping under 17 minutes with a time of 17:00.53. Japhet Kemei was the top finisher on the men's side with a podium effort of 14:51.04 to place fifth.
Hunter Murphy hit 2.12m in the men's high jump to place second and Brayden Hill cleared 5.00m in the pole vault for a season-best effort to finish eighth. Ayden Colbert's season-best effort of 49.32m in the javelin earned him an eighth-place finish. Two Jacks earned podium finishes in the hammer throw as Victor Ramos tossed 56.92m to place fifth and Kason Reed hit 53.49m to finish eighth.
The SFA men dominated the 1500m event with Riley Elliott placing second with a time of 3:44.28 and Pablo Lesarri finishing third in 3:46.50. Ryan Binskin (3:51.90), Sam Golla (3:55.88) and Lathan Lewter (3:57.48) recorded personal bests with Binskin placing sixth, while Zachary McPhee (4:06.39) posted a season-best time.
Basia Mitchell landed 5.81m to place eighth in a wind-aided long jump and seventh in the 100mH with a personal-best time of 13.75. In the women's pole vault, Annalee Gardner registered a season-best 3.64m. Alondra Loya placed sixth in the hammer at 50.84m, and Tynslee Richards hit a personal-best at 48.43 to finish in tenth place.
In the men's 3000m steeple, Devon Judelson posted a personal-best time of 9:16.45, while two runners earn podium placements in the women's steeple. Garance Dubray's time of 10:56.85 earned her a third-place finish and Leila Farda placed fifth with a personal-best time of 11:32.83.
Jarvis Anderson sped to a fourth-place finish of 51.19 in the 400m hurdles. Keyshawn Garcia placed fourth in the 800m at 1:49.50. Darryl George Jr. and Mike Thomas Jr. each recorded personal-best times in the 400m. George ran 48.22 and Thomas finished in 48.25.
Trude Lamb recorded a personal-best time of 2:14.98 in the 800m. She placed fifth in the 1500m at 4:33.37. Sharon Boyani Omwoyo finished eighth in the 1500m at 4:41.02 with is a season best and Landry Perkin logged a tenth-place finish with a personal best time of 4:41.79.
The men's 4x400 relay placed fourth with a season-best time of 3:13.74. The women's 4x100 placed fourth at 46.52.
The Jacks turn their attention to the 2026 Southland Conference Championships on May 14-16 from Homer Bryce Stadium in Nacogdoches.
