SFA finishes home slate 15-12
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin closed out its regular season home slate on Sunday afternoon suffering a 7-1 loss to McNeese in game three of the Southland Conference series from Pilgrim's Park. The loss moves SFA to 13-14 in league play and into a tie for sixth place with the Cowboys with three games remaining.
The Jacks answered solo home runs by the Cowboys in the first and second innings with an RBI single by Coby DeJesus that plated a one-out double by Josh Ibe in the home half of the second. McNeese added a third solo home run in the fourth and SFA threatened in the bottom half by loading the bases but was unable to plate a run.
A fourth solo homerun by the Cowboys started a three-run frame that saw two more runs cross with two outs as a single into right field was misplayed allowing a second run on the contact to score.
Leading 6-1, McNeese's fifth solo home run of the game, and second for Danny Barbero, put the Cowboys up six in the top of the eighth inning.
Dylan Mulcahy went 5.0 innings and struck out six with all three runs allowed via solo home run. Elian Balmaceda and Kadin Munson (faced minimum) each tossed a frame, Nate Vidlak pitched two outs and Brennan Greer faced the minimum over 1.1 innings with two strikeouts.
