First-year Jack delivers six RBI as SFA wins for the 21st time this spring
PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – Junior Evan Aslaksen, making just his second start of the season, finished a double shy of the cycle as a four-hit, six-RBI afternoon against Prairie View A&M including two home runs which ignited SFA to a 13-7 win on Tuesday from Tankersley Field. The win is the 21st of the season for the Jacks who have won eight of their past dozen games.
A first-year Lumberjack, Aslaksen belted his first homer of the season with two outs to highlight a five-run top of the first inning. A frame later, the League City, Texas native singled in two more runs as the Jacks again put together a five-run inning to grab a 10-0 advantage through two innings.
Aslaksen was far from finished as a 1-0 pitch to the Jacks' designated hitter left the yard again, this time a solo shot for a single SFA tally in the fourth. The next inning, Peyton Adams homered, his first as a collegian, on a 3-1 offering as SFA built a 12-0 lead through five frames.
All seven PVAMU runs were supplied over the final four frames with multiple runs crossing in the sixth and ninth innings. Aslaksen's final act on Tuesday came in the ninth inning as a he took a cut at a 2-2 pitch and tripled into center field to plate Jackson Benattar.
Noah O'Farrell was strong in four innings of work allowing just three hits and a walk, while striking out three. Seanan Farney was the most effective reliever of the six arms that followed O'Farrell's start. He walked two, but did not allow a hit or a run in shutting the host out in the fifth.
