Jacks' Outdoor Season Commences in Waco

SFA set for two days of competition at the Clyde Hart Classic
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin track & field turns its attention outside as the outdoor portion of the schedule gets underway this weekend in Waco. The Jacks are set for action at the Clyde Hart Classic. The two-day meet begins with field events at 11 a.m. both days, with running events starting at 5:30 p.m. Friday and the 100-meter hurdles prelims at 12:30 p.m. Saturday and is expected to conclude at around 4:20 p.m. Saturday with two heats in the women's and men's 4x400 relays. The SFA men are coming off a second-straight Southland Conference indoor title, while the SFA women placed second. Bryson Williams was named the league's Indoor Male Field Athlete of the Year, Paul Kiprotich was named the league's Newcomer of the Year, the first for the SFA men indoors and Robert Hansen earned SLC Men's Coach of the Year honors for the second-straight season.
Seven SFA athletes won individual titles indoors last month and the Jacks return Basia Mitchell, last season's SLC Female Newcomer of the Year, as well as Valentine Jemutai (10,000m), Jarvis Anderson (400mH), Brayden Hill (PV) and Bryson Williams (TJ) who all won individual outdoor titles last spring.

The meet includes track and field powers Arkansas, Texas, TCU and Iowa State, Lone Star State foes St. Edwards, SFA, Tarleton State, UTA, Sam Houston State, St. Thomas, Huston-Tillotson and UNT-Dallas and Pelican State opponents Louisiana Monroe and Louisiana Tech.

Entered in for competition are an elite group of athletes that includes Gabby Thomas, who won three gold medals at the 2024 Olympics in Paris; 2016 Olympics heptathlon champion Dalilah Muhammad; 2024 Olympics 400-meter hurdles silver medalist Anna Cockrell; Great Britain 400-meter record-holder and Olympic finalist Amber Anning; Taliyah Brooks, bronze medalist in the heptathlon at the 2024 Olympics; Alexis Holmes, an Olympic gold medalist in the 4x400 relay; and Jamaican Olympians Stacey-Ann Williams and Nickisha Pryce.

Per Baylor Athletics: Ticket prices start at $11 per day for general admission, with bleacher-style seating with backrests throughout the grandstands; or $17 for individual chairback seating for the bottom half rows closest to the south (riverside) finish line.
