Aggies Take Midweek Meeting Over Lumberjacks

SFA pitching surpasses 150 strikeouts on the season, reaching 151 through 18 games
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin baseball team was unable to generate offense in their 14-1 ballgame at #22 Texas A&M in a midweek matchup on Tuesday, March 10.
The Lumberjacks were able to keep close with the Aggies, letting up three runs in the first by SFA, giving Texas A&M a 3-0 lead for three innings. Noah O'Farrell kept the Aggie offense guessing in the second and third innings, striking out one batter and collecting five outs with the backup of his Lumberjack defense. In the top of the fourth, Mark Henning closed the 3-0 gap with a solo shot to center field to bring the Aggie lead to two runs, before Blake Binderup launched his own solo home run in the bottom of the frame.
Jonathan Valdez kept the fifth inning quiet against the Aggies, allowing no runs with the efforts of the SFA defense, with Texas A&M holding onto a close 4-1 lead to close out the frame. The sixth inning consisted of the Aggies compiling 11 runs, followed by a scoreless top of the seventh to end the night in a 14-1 defeat for SFA.

SFA moves to 11-7 on the year as the Lumberjacks now look forward to their Southland series with the Lions of Southeastern Louisiana for the 45th meeting. The Lions will host SFA starting on Friday, March 13, and will conclude the three-game series on Sunday, March 15.
