Jacks Head to College Station for Charlie Thomas Invite/Multi

Two-day event sees full squad in action inside Texas A&M's R.A. 'Murray' Fasken '38 Indoor Facility
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Jacks are back in action indoors this weekend as SFA makes the short trip to College Station for the Charlie Thomas Invitational and Multi set for Friday and Saturday, February 6 and 7. Both squads aim to build off of what has been an impressive start to the '26 slate. Complete start lists as well as live result links are available at www.SFAjacks.com.
In College Station, the Jacks will compete against the host Aggies, Abilene Christian, Arizona State, East Texas A&M, Houston, Rice, Sam Houston, SMU, South Plains, Texas Southern, Texas State, UCF, UT-Arlington, UT-Rio Grande Valley, UTSA and Western Texas.
TFRI: Track & Field Rating Index (As of February 3)
The most recent updates to the USTFCCCA's Regional Track & Field Rating Index has the SFA men ranked seventh in the South Central Region (SCR) and first among all Southland Conference teams, while the SFA women rank second in the SLC and are inside the region's top 20 at 18th.
TOP 20 NATIONALLY
A hot start on the indoor distance circuit, specifically in the 5000m, for both the SFA men and women has each program inside the top 20 nationally in the USTFCCCA Event Squad rankings. The SFA women rank 17th in the country, with an event average time of 16:45.83. Three SFA women are regionally-ranked inside the run's top 10 with Valentine Jemutai leading with currently the sixth-fastest time this indoor season. The SFA men are slotted 19th and average 14:12.52 per result. Four Lumberjack men rank inside the top 10 in the SCR in the 5000m event with Paul Kiprotich pacing the group with the region's fourth-fastest time.
NOTES & NUMBERS
* Three men's throwers hold top 25 regional marks in the weight throw led by Kason Reed's 18.09m (59' 4.25") mark, while James Williams is ranked inside the top 25 in both the weight throw and shot put leading SFA in the latter at 16.44m (53' 11/25").
* Alondra Loya holds a top 30 regional mark in the weight throw at 15.65m (51' 4.25").
* Brayden Hill (4.76m) and Payton Bragg (4.75m) are both inside the region's top 20 in the pole vault. Aubrey Griffin ranks among the region's top 30 women in the event at 3.71m.
* Hunter Murphy currently sits inside the top 20 regionally in the high jump at 2.05m which he set in the season opener in Fayetteville.
* Alana Roquette's 3,195 points last weekend in the pentathlon place her inside the SCR's top 15.
* Basia Mitchell's season-opening long jump effort of 5.85m is inside the top 20 regionally.
* Lauren Creaby currently owns the 12th-fastest 800m time in the SCR with a finish of 2:11.61.
JUMP MAN, JUMP MAN, JUMP MAN
Senior jumper Bryson Williams took home the Southland Conference's Men's Field Athlete of the Week honor on Tuesday after an impressive effort in the triple jump event at the Robert Platt Invitational hosted by Houston. Williams won the event with a lengthy 15.86m (52' 0.5") result which stands as the second-longest in SFA's indoor program history. It is currently the 20th longest Division I result in the event this season, the second longest among non-P4 athletes and the second among triple jumpers in the South Central region.
THE NEW STANDARD
Two weekends into SFA's indoor campaign and two records have already fallen. In the opener at the Arkansas Invitational, Nathan Kapel registered the fastest 3000m time in program history at 8:08.15 and last weekend in Boston, at the Terrier Classic, Valentine Jemutai stamped her name atop the 5000m list with a result of 16:24.90.
