
Mitchell, Williams Produce Top 10 All-Time Efforts, Jacks Enjoy Solid Friday

SFA concludes day one action in College Station with multiple event top 10s
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Friday action at the Charlie Thomas Invitational was fruitful for the Stephen F. Austin men's and women's track & field teams. Basia Mitchell recorded a pair of top 10 all-time results and James Williams added a new all-time mark as the Jacks enjoyed a solid start to the weekend with multiple point-scoring finishes among a heavy major conference field.
Mitchell recorded a personal-best effort in the pentathlon with 3,711 points which currently stands as the eighth-most points in the event in SFA indoor program history. She delivered a trio of top seven finishes in the 60mH, shot put and long jump. Among the events that she completed on Friday was the 60mH where she posted the program's tenth-fastest time ever in the event at 8.69 to earn 976 points to start the competition.
Williams' sixth-place result in the men's shot put resulted in his mark of 16.99m (55' 9") standing as the eighth furthest toss in indoor program history. Julian Tijerina (15.69m, 51' 5 ¾") and Kason Reed (15.58m, 51' 1 ½") finished 14th and 15th, respectively.
In the women's 200m, Kennedy Swann was the fastest Jack with a 28th place finish in 24.61. Timiejha Furlow placed 35th in 24.81. Mya Sanders was the top Jack to place in the women's 400m and did so with a result of 57.96. Abbigail Hirth recorded a high jump mark of 1.60m (5' 3") to place inside the top 15.
The Jacks placed a pair of throwers in the top seven of the women's weight throw as Amirah Wooden finished in fifth place (16.55m, 54' 3 ¾") and Alondra Loya placed seventh (16.01m, 52' 6 ½) with a personal best effort.
Faith Nze recorded a mark of 5.61m (18' 5") in the women's long jump to place 20th.
Jarvis Anderson recorded a time of 48.13 to finish 11th in the 400m. Mike Thomas Jr. placed inside the field's top 25 with a time of 49.40.
Samuel Pavan sits in seventh place through day one action in the heptathlon. Pavan has scored 2,968 points highlighted by a third-place finish in the shot put. He is only nine points back of fifth place and less than 200 points shy of fourth with the 60mH, pole vault and 1000m events remaining.
Johnny Banks III placed as the fastest 200m runner for SFA with a top 30 effort in 21.73. Perry Watkins finished in 21.88. Sam Golla ran to a tenth-place result in the 5000m event at 14:54.67.
Hunter Murphy and Rance Berney earned top 10 placements in the high jump. Murphy posted a season-best mark of 2.10m (6' 10 ¾") to finish sixth, while Berney finished at 2.00m (6' 6 ¾") to place tenth. Payton Bragg record a 12th place result in the pole vault at 4.60m (15' 1"). In the high jump, D'mitri Patton finished in 24th place after reaching 6.19m (20' 3 ¾").
