Ladyjacks Axe Colonels on Senior Day

Seniors Harmanie Dominguez and Ashlyn Traylor-Walker lead SFA past Nicholls
NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin women's basketball program played in the Sawmill for the final time for the 2025-26 season against the Nicholls Colonels.
Nicholls jumped out to an 7-1 lead with 6:04 left in the first quarter. Three minutes later, SFA went on a 6-0 run that cut the deficit to one after a three from senior Harmanie Dominguez, 11-10 with 2:14 left. The Ladyjacks would take their first lead of the game off two made free throws from Lydia Cajuste, 15-13 with 36 seconds left. The Colonels made a layup with 19 seconds left to tie the game at 15.
Both teams traded blows to start the second quarter as neither team held more than a three-point lead, until SFA went on a 7-0 run that was capped off by a jumper from Key Roseby to take a 26-21 lead with 4:24 left. The back-and-forth continued until Anika Hyland made a three-pointer to send SFA into the locker room with a 33-29 lead.
The Colonels began the third quarter on a 4-2 spurt to cut the SFA lead to two, 35-33 with 9:17 left. SFA responded with a dominant 15-2 run that gave the Ladyjacks a 50-35 lead with 2:42 left in the third quarter. Nicholls scored the next five points before SFA finished up the quarter on a 7-0 spurt to take a 17-point lead into the fourth quarter.
SFA continued their run with three straight layups from Aziyah Farrier, Cajuste and Dominguez to grow their lead to 21 with 6:53 left in the game. After the Ladyjacks went on a quick 5-0 run, the rest of the game both teams traded baskets. Nicholls ended the game on a 6-0 run but it was too little too late as the Ladyjacks secured a 77-57 victory.
After the game, SFA honored three senior team managers and Hope LeMelle, Ashlyn Traylor-Walker and Harmanie Dominguez for all they have done for the SFA program.
POSTGAME NOTES
• SFA swept the season series against the Nicholls Colonels for their 51st win of the series.
• SFA nearly doubled Nicholls in the paint, 42-26 and scored 44 of their 77 points in the second half.
• Senior Harmanie Dominguez led the team with 18 points and brought down four boards.
• Key Roseby followed with 16 points and led the team with three three-pointers.
• Senior Ashlyn Traylor-Walker scored 11 points, including her 1,500th career point, and led the team with five assists.
• Aziyah Farrier scored 10 points and led the team with 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season.
UP NEXT
SFA will hit the road for their final three games of the regular season beginning with a Thursday night matchup on February 26 at 6:00 p.m. in San Antonio against the UIW Cardinals. After that the Ladyjacks will head to Houston to face the HCU Huskies on Saturday, February 28 at 1:00 p.m. SFA will wrap up the regular season at the site of the SLC Tournament and the home court of the regular season champions, McNeese Cowgirls on Monday, March 2 at 6:30 p.m.
