
Ladyjacks Hold Off Vaqueros for Huge Win in the Valley

Key Roseby and Harmanie Dominguez knock down seven threes combined to power SFA to a 72-70 victory
EDINBURG, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin women's basketball program wrapped up their road trip to South Texas with a Saturday afternoon tilt with the UTRGV Vaqueros who sit in second place in the SLC standings.
Both teams traded blows for the first few minutes of the game before SFA scored four points to take a 10-4 lead with 5:29 left in the first quarter. UTRGV responded with a 10-3 run as the Vaqueros took a one-point lead 14-13. Back-to-back layups from Ingram gave UTRGV a three-point lead heading into the first quarter break, 18-15.
In the second quarter, both teams got their three-point shooting going as the first five made baskets of the quarter were threes. Ashlyn Traylor-Walker and Harmanie Dominguez made back-to-back threes to tie the game at 24 with 7:21 left in the second quarter. Dominguez and Key Roseby teamed up for back-to-back threes late in the quarter to tie the game up at 34. A buzzer beater layup from Aziyah Farrier kept the score tied at 36 as both teams went into the locker room at halftime. Of the eight shots SFA made in the second quarter, six of them were from beyond the arc.
SFA scored the first four points of the second half, 40-36 with 8:59 left. Both teams traded baskets for the next three minutes until the Ladyjacks went on an 8-2 run to take a 52-45 lead with 1:52 left in the third. UTRGV cut it to a one possession game before a three from Traylor-Walker gave SFA a five-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, 55-50.
UTRGV would not go away quietly as they began the fourth on a 7-2 run to tie the game up at 57 with 7:36 left. The Ladyjacks responded with a 12-2 spurt that was capped off by a layup from Roseby to extend the SFA lead to 10, 69-59 with 4:58 left in the game. The Vaqueros began their comeback with four minutes left as they went on an 11-3 run to end the game, but ran out of time as they missed two shots in the last 12 seconds of the game as SFA won the game by a score of 72-70.
POSTGAME NOTES
• SFA split the season series against UTRGV with both road teams picking up victories.
• The six three-pointers the Ladyjacks made in the second quarter is tied for the most SFA has made in a single quarter this season. SFA also made six threes in the fourth quarter against SLU on Jan. 3 and in the third quarter against SCU on Nov. 14.
• Key Roseby led the team with 17 points and went 3-7 from beyond the arc.
• Harmanie Dominguez followed with 14 points and led the team with four three-pointers.
• Aziyah Farrier was the third Ladyjack in double figures with 11 points and led the team with six boards.
• Kaylinn Kemp led the team with seven assists and four steals while Cha Gardner led the team with three blocks.

The SFA Ladyjacks will return to the Sawmill for the final time this season as they will face the New Orleans Privateers on Thursday, February 19 at 6:30 p.m. for Jersey Night. They will wrap up their 2025-26 home schedule on Saturday, February 21 at 2:00 p.m. against the Nicholls Colonels as the Ladyjacks will celebrate senior day. Senior Day festivities will take place after the game is over.
