Six Ladyjacks score double figures in rout of Islanders
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin women's basketball program traveled to Corpus Christi for their first of two road games this weekend.
SFA got out to a hot start with a 5-0 run in the first minute of the game and then continued their run and took an early 10-point lead with 6:07 left in the first quarter, 12-2. Over the next few minutes both teams traded baskets until SFA went on a 9-0 run that included back-to-back three-pointers from Anika Hyland and Ashlyn Traylor-Walker with under a minute left in the first, 25-7. TAMUCC scored a layup at the last second of the quarter, but SFA went into the first quarter break with a dominant 16-point lead, 25-9.
The Ladyjacks began the second quarter on a 7-3 spurt to take a 20-point lead, 32-12 with 8:15 left in the quarter. The Islanders responded with a 5-4 run thanks to five free throws from former Ladyjack Trinity Slocum. SFA did not take their foot off the gas as they went on a 13-3 run that was capped off by a fastbreak layup from Key Roseby, 49-20 with 1:29 left in the first half. Hyland made a free throw with five second left in the half to send the Ladyjacks into the locker room with a 25-point lead, 50-25.
Both teams traded blows to begin the third quarter. SFA continued to cruise as they went on a 15-2 run to take a commanding 73-37 lead with 23 seconds left in the third. That run was capped off by back-to-back threes from Hyland and Traylor-Walker. SFA went into the fourth quarter with a 34-point lead, 73-39.
The Islanders began the fourth on a 5-0 run, but SFA responded with a 7-0 run, 80-44 with 6:04 left in the game. The Ladyjacks continued to cruise to the finish with a 7-2 scoring run to end the game with a 42-point victory, 93-51.

• The Ladyjacks record at least five double digit scorers for the ninth time this season, SFA had six today.
• Myka Perry led the team with a career-high 23 points and added four steals and five rebounds.

• Cha Gardner led the team with seven rebounds, followed by Traylor-Walker with six.
