Lumberjack Women Restructure Program’s 5000m List in Boston, Williams Wins TJ in Houston

Friday split action results in impressive efforts across the board for the Jacks
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin women's indoor 5000m top 10 list was greatly altered at the John Thomas Terrier Classic in Boston with four new entries including the top two fastest times in program history led by Valentine Jemutai's new program standard. Also in Boston, Lauren Creaby recorded the fifth-fastest 800m time in program history, while in Houston at the Robert Platt Invitational, multiple Jacks put together top 15 efforts including Bryson Williams who posted the 15th longest triple jump result in NCAA Division I this season and the second longest in program history.

SFA's women's 5000m top 10 was rewritten beginning with a new program standard in the event of 16:24.90 set by Valentine Jemutai who finished seventh in the 91-runner open field. Seven seconds back of Jemutai was Mercy Kipchumba who posted the second-fastest time in the event in program history at 16:31.34 to place 16th, while Trude Lamb finished in 21st with the sixth fastest 5000m time in program history of 16:53.44. Sharon Boyani Omwoyo landed inside the top 10 all-time with a 33rd place finish in 17:13.62. Just outside entering the program's top 10 all-time was Lizi McGuire who's 38th place effort of 17:15.91 stands as a new personal best.
Creaby sped to an 11th place finish in the 156-runner field of the women's 800m with a time of 2:11.61; the fifth fastest time in SFA indoor history.
In Houston, Williams posted a triple jump result of 15.86m (52' ½") to win the event. It is currently inside the NCAA's top 20 and is 15th in Division I.
Perry Watkins won the prelims of the 60m at 6.81 to advance to Saturday's final. Johnny Banks III, Timiejha Furlow and Whitnee Teagle also qualified for a final effort in the event. Samuel Pravan and Ayden Colbert each posted qualifying times in the 60m hurdles.
Alana Roquette recorded 3,195 total points in the pentathlon to place sixth overall. She placed sixth in the 60m hurdles (9.15), ran to a third-place finish in the 800m (2:29.29) and recorded a top five placement in the high jump (1.56m, 5' 1 ¼"). Roquette tossed over 29 feet in the shot put to place 10th and registered nearly 15 and a half feet in the long jump.
SFA placed three pole vaulters in the top ten. Brayden Hill recorded an eighth place showing (4.76m, 15' 7 ¼") in the event, while Aubrey Griffin (3.71m, 12' 2") and Reis Johnson (3.56m, 11' 8") finished in sixth and eighth place respectively. In the weight throw, Kason Reed tossed 18.09m (59' 4 ¼") to finish in sixth, while Victor Ramos joined him in the top ten at ninth with a mark of 17.03m (55' 10 ½"). On the women's side, Alondra Loya placed eighth at 15.65m (51' 4 ¼").
