SFA sends distance athletes to Massachusetts, majority of squad to Houston
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – A split weekend is ahead for Stephen F. Austin track and field as the month of January comes to an end. The Jacks, nearly two weeks removed from impressive record-book altering efforts at the Arkansas Invitational, will send its distance runners to Boston for the John Thomas Terrier Classic, while field, jump, sprint and middle-distance athletes head south to Houston for the Robert Platt Invitational. Both meets begin on Friday, January 30 with action set for Saturday, January 31. Live coverage links, including live results and live video feeds for both meets, are available at www.SFAjacks.com.
In Boston, the Jacks will compete against the likes of the host Terriers, Wagner, Quinnipiac, Maine, Vermont, Holy Cross, RIC, Providence, UCONN, Central Connecticut State and Harvard among others from around the country. The competition in Houston features common Lone Star State foes Incarnate Word, Lamar, Rice, TAMU-Corpus Christi, Tarleton State, TCU and UTA among others.
SFA will see multi-athlete Alana Roquette compete in the pentathlon in Houston. Following an impressive showing at the Deaflympics in December, Jarvis Anderson is primed for his first action of the season in the 400m and triple jump events. Full heat sheet and performance lists are available at www.SFAjacks.com.
Among the Lumberjacks' performances in Northwest Arkansas on January 16, four currently rank inside the top 10 in the South Central Region and all took place in the 3000m event.
