Jacks Jump Six Spots to No. 16 nationally in CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Rankings

SFA consensus top 25 team for third-straight week
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - For the third-consecutive week, Stephen F. Austin men's basketball is ranked among the nation's top mid-major programs with CollegeInsider.com's latest top 25 ranking pushing the Jacks inside the top 20 to a season-high No. 16 nationally; up six spots from the January 19 ranking. SFA received 331 total points and is tied for the third-highest jump in this week's ranking among teams that were ranked inside the top 25 a week ago.

The Jacks' lone ranked opponent in the poll is fellow Southland Conference foe McNeese ranked a spot above SFA at No. 15. The Cowboys rallied to beat the Lumberjacks 66-64 on January 5 in Lake Charles to hand SFA its first league loss, while keeping a lengthy home winning streak intact. SFA suffered a road loss to UTA which received six votes in the latest poll, and earned an exhibition overtime win over Sam Houston State which received 20 points in the January 26 release.
As of games played through January 26, the Jacks rank 93rd in the KenPom.com ratings and are inside the Division I Top 85 in NCAA NET rankings at No. 84. Both of those inclusions are currently the second-highest nods for a Southland program as the Jacks trail McNeese (No. 67 KP, No. 58 NET). Of the advanced metrics, the Jacks hold a No. 79 rating in adjusted defensive efficiency.
Stephen F. Austin is back inside William R. Johnson Coliseum and will begin a five-game homestand on Tuesday afternoon in a nationally-televised matchup with longtime rival Northwestern State on CBS Sports Network. The league-leading Jacks will put a nine-game home winning streak on the line against the Demons. SFA will welcome in Southeastern Louisiana (1/31), No. 15 McNeese (2/2), Lamar (2/7) and East Texas A&M (2/9) during the home stretch. Tickets are available at www.SFAjacks.com/MBBtickets.
