Lumberjack XC to Preview SLC Title Meet at Demon Invite in Natchitoches

'Jacks head east for second run of season; to see familiar league foes on Friday
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin cross country teams are back in action on Friday at the Demon Invitational hosted by Northwestern State. The event will serve as a preview race for the Southland Conference championships which will be contested in Natchitoches in late October. The action is underway at 6:15 p.m. with the women's 4K, while the men's 6K is slated for a 6:45 p.m. start. AdkinsTrak Timing will provide the live results with both races available at sfajacks.com.
Both SFA teams produced strong showings at the season-opening Lumberjack Invitational. Valentine Jemutai led the SFA women to a team win behind a top individual finish of 11:19.7. Three other Lumberjack ladies made their collegiate debuts at Pecan Acres Park with Kathryn Tucker, Sharon Omwoyo and Keara Zver all logging top ten finishes in their rookie runs. The SFA women defeated fellow region squad Rice and LeTourneau.
The Lumberjack men, led by true freshman Lathan Lewter who was named the SLC Male Runner of the Week after claiming the individual title, accounted for all top ten spots and a dozen of the first 15 as just eight seconds separated Lewter and tenth place finisher Pablo Lesarri.
Friday's competition includes host Northwestern State, Lamar and McNeese State in addition to G5 Louisiana Tech.
