NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin cross-country teams are preparing for significant upcoming competitions at the Arturo Barrios Invitational and the Under Armour Pre-National Invitational, both scheduled for Friday, October 16th. These events represent crucial opportunities for both the men's and women's squads to challenge themselves against top-tier competition and gain valuable experience before the postseason.

The SFA women's squad will compete at the Arturo Barrios Invitational, using this event as a strategic opportunity to familiarize themselves with the regional course at Texas A&M. This familiarity is crucial as the regional meet will take place on the same course. Coach Rob Hansen emphasized the importance of this experience, stating, "Their best chance at making some postseason noise and potentially being in the mix at the regional meet is to get more run on that course."
Â
UNDER ARMOUR PRE-NATIONAL INVITATIONAL

- Location: Terre Haute, Indiana, hosted by Indiana State.
- Competing Teams: A competitive lineup includes notable teams such as #8 Syracuse, #14 Villanova, #15 Notre Dame, #29 North Carolina, Michigan, and others.
Â
The men's squad will head to the Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, a significant event for assessing their standing against top-ranked teams. This is the first time in nearly a decade that the team will compete at pre-nationals, and Coach Hansen is eager to see how they perform against nine ranked teams, including Syracuse and Michigan. "We want to measure ourselves and we want to see if we belong there or not," Coach Hansen remarked, highlighting the men's determination and competitive spirit.
Â
Both events promise to be pivotal moments for the SFA cross-country teams as they gear up for the championship season. Coach Hansen expressed confidence in his teams' abilities, commenting on their resilience and tenacity, "They're dogs, they just won't be denied. They do not want to lose."
