‘Jacks in at #23 in Stats Perform FCS Preseason Top 25 Poll

SFA one of two SLC teams to appear, one of seven teams not ranked in the final ’24 poll to receive a preseason top 25 nod
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stats Perform FCS Preseason Top 25 Poll was announced on Monday morning, August 4, and among the programs receiving a national ranking ahead of the 2025 season is Southland Conference preseason No. 2 Stephen F. Austin.
The Lumberjacks were slotted in at No. 23 nationally and are one of two SLC programs (No. 5 UIW) in the ranking and one of seven teams to receive a preseason nod after not being ranked at the conclusion of the '24 campaign. SFA totaled 183 points to edge No. 24 Stony Brook and slot in behind No. 22 Monmouth.
SFA's 2025 schedule features two teams ranked in the preseason poll in No. 5 Incarnate Word (Oct. 4) and No. 16 Abilene Christian (Sept. 6). The 'Jacks will face both programs on the road.
Additional preseason recognition for the 'Jacks includes a top 25 ranking in the Hero Sports FCS Preseason Media Poll that placed SFA tied with Monmouth for the No. 21 spot nationally during the poll's release in late May.
