
‘Jacks Roll to Team Wins at Lumberjack Invitational

Jemutai, Lewter win individual titles as SFA XC returns with dominant showings
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's cross-country teams opened the 2025 season in grand fashion rocking the competition at the Lumberjack Invitational. Both squads bested their respective competition to claim the team titles. The SFA women were led by Valentine Jemutai who finished the two-mile race in 11:19.7 to win the individual title. The SFA men were led by true freshman Lathan Lewter who won the men's three-mile race in 15:07.
Both teams saw their top three finishers claim first, second and third on paper. Jemutai won by six seconds, while true freshmen Kathryn Tucker and Garance Dubray earned top five placements for the Lumberjacks. The SFA men finished in a pack with seven to eight runners scissoring around each other towards the tape. Lewter along with freshman classmate Zach McPhee logged top five finishes in their first collegiate runs.
