Mercy Kipchumba Finishes Season at NCAA National Championship Meet

VERONA, Wisconsin- Stephen F. Austin women's cross-country runner Mercy Kipchumba finished her 2024 season yesterday at the NCAA National Championship Cross-Country meet in Verona, Wisconsin.
In only her third meet of her freshman season, Mercy finished in 165th place overall with a time of 20:53.
"NCAA Cross-Country nationals is a crazy event," said head coach Rob Hansen. "The best athletes in the country get out super-fast and just keep pushing. I thought Mercy did a phenomenal job handling the atmosphere and energy involved in this race. Finishing in 165th is very impressive for a freshman in just her third ever collegiate cross country race. I couldn't be more proud of her!"
