Demmings among Five FCS Players Named to Panini Senior Bowl Top 300

Senior cornerback continues haul of preseason recognition in advance of final year as a ‘Jack
MOBILE, Ala. – Stephen F. Austin senior cornerback Charles Demmings received another highly-significant preseason distinction on Wednesday morning, August 20. The Mesquite, Texas native was one of just five Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) student-athletes to earn a spot on the Panini Senior Bowl Top 300 list.
Demmings joins Youngstown State quarterback Max Tomczak, North Dakota State wide receiver Bryce Lance, Incarnate Word wide receiver Jalen Walthall and Harvard quarterback Jaden Craig as the five FCS players named to the watchlist.
An SLC second team selection a season ago, Demmings has received a pair of preseason All-American nods this fall with recognition as a second team selection on both the Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-American list and the FCS Football Central Preseason All-American list.
Demmings finished 2024 ranked second in the league in passes defended (1.1) and finished with a team-high 10 pass breakups and two interceptions in 11 games. He enters his final collegiate season four pass breakups shy of moving into the program's DI top ten and nine breakups from becoming just the seventh DI Lumberjack to record 30 in a single career and the first since 2003.
Demmings' latest honor is added to a preseason accolade list for the Texan that includes appearances on both the East-West Shrine Bowl 1000 Watchlist and the Dream Bowl XIV Watchlist.
